What this covers

This Privacy Policy explains how Uplift Go handles your information when you use the app.

Uplift Go is a walking app: it counts your steps towards a daily goal, helps you discover local businesses nearby, check in and earn rewards, and lets you join or create a team and compete on the leaderboard.

Information we use

We use the profile details you provide, including your display name, optional email address and optional profile photo. We also use:

  • Step totals, goals, streaks and points — read from your device's step counter to track your activity.
  • Check-ins and rewards — the places you check in at and the rewards you redeem.
  • Team membership — the teams you join or create and your contribution to them.
  • Device location — when you allow it, to find places around you.
  • Camera — used only when you choose to scan a check-in QR code.

You can use Uplift Go without registering. The app creates an account for you on first launch so your activity has somewhere to live; adding an email address is optional and simply secures the account you already have.

Why we use it

We use this information to run the app: to track your activity, show nearby places, confirm proximity for check-ins, display team leaderboards, provide rewards and keep your account in sync across your devices.

Your current coordinates are sent to our nearby-places service to find places around you. They are not added to your public profile and are never shown to other users.

Device permissions & why we ask

📍 Location

To show businesses near you, resolve your city, and confirm you are close enough to a place to check in. You can use the rest of the app without it.

🏃 Physical activity

To read your device's step counter for your goals, streaks and points.

📷 Camera

Only when you choose to scan a place's QR code to check in. Nothing is recorded or stored from the camera.

🔔 Notifications

To let you know when you hit your daily goal, reach a streak milestone, get a clap from a teammate, or when new places and rewards appear in your city. Each type can be turned off in Settings.

Who can see it

Members of a team can see the profile name and photo you choose to share, your team step contribution, your leaderboard position and team activity.

We use Google services for authentication, cloud storage, database and server functions, and Google Places and Maps to provide nearby-place features.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

Data Protection Guarantee

Your location is never shared with other users — your team sees your step count, not where you have been.

Storage and retention

The app keeps your activity and last known location on your device so it works offline. Account and app data are stored in Google Cloud while your account is active. Nearby-place data is kept only as long as needed for the service. Optional photos remain until you replace, remove or delete them.

Your choices

  • Deny or revoke location, activity, camera and notification permissions at any time in your device settings.
  • Choose which notifications you receive in Profile > Settings.
  • Update your profile and remove your profile photo in the app.
  • Delete your account and associated cloud data with Delete account in Profile > Settings.
  • Removing the app also removes its local data from your device.

You can also email go@uplift.systems for help with deletion or any other privacy request.

Security and contact

We use reasonable technical safeguards, including encrypted connections, to protect information in transit.

For privacy questions or requests, email go@uplift.systems, or use the developer contact shown in Uplift Go's app-store listing.

We may update this policy and will post the new version here.
